Hey guys! Wondering about taller guys...

I've been looking at naked bikes for months now and I think I'm finally setting my sights on a sweet Duke 390.

Im going to go take one for a test ride on the weekend, but to any taller Duke 390 owners, (I'm 6'3, 100kg) are there adjustments that can be done to make it more suitable for taller riders? Or is it comfortable on its own.

Any and all info is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi and welcome . The Duke 390 is a great little bike . I say little in stature but it can compete with plenty of higher cylindric volume bikes out there . But , 6,3 and 100 Kg is the limit I would have thought . Rear shock upgrade and ergo seat can give you a couple cm of clearance / leg space . A adjustable position brake pedal and gear shift kit will help too .

I believe forum member Zippy is about your height, and he seems to get along well with his Duke, even taking it to the track frequently. Perhaps he may chime in with his perspective here.

Hmmm... another question then, do you think that I should just get over the dream of the 390 then, seeing as there would need to be all this work done just to turn it into the bike that I need.

Thanks for the tips though

Oh wow! Do you remember if it was a 390 or 690? (Reading up on it it seems that taller guys go for the 690, but as I'm on my learners I cant go past 660 cc. Let alone the price :/)

Thanks for the inspiration though!!

I'm 6'1" and I can ride it OK, but it does seem a little small. It'll be more your leg length than total height, as I find my knees don't fit behind the tank fully, they're pushed out by the angled surface. and it's a bit of an angle to get my feet on the pegs. Ideally, I'd like to sit about 2 inches further back - but can't as that'll put me on the hump between the rear & front seats!

I would def sit on one before you buy and see what you think.

Yeah thanks for the advice . It is going to be a little bit of a push to get it to work well. But we will see :P

I'm not nearly as tall as you, 5'11", and since you need to corner with your toes on the pegs, it's tight for me too. You might try sitting on the RC 390, which fit me better than my 390 Duke, but neither was available when I put my deposit down on the Duke. I do love this little bike and my age, 66, leaves me a little less flexible than the younger set. BTW, I've got 5400 miles on it since June of last year so I do ride it. No problems with the bike.

Awesome! Thanks for that .

Quick follow up question, is that standard or have you had to mod it to suit your height?
