David's Story

Why is he not constantly covering the front brake, he scrubs next to no speed effectively? Yes I know it was a SMIDSY but thats exactly why the extra onus is on US!

I think I look out for turning traffic like that and back off/prepare but certainly will in future.

Although it seem the driver in this case admit or claim to not have seen the bike, it'd be interesting to see how the courts apportioned the blame in similar cases where the speed the bike was doing at least contribute to injuries sustained and depending on the time frame considered, could be the entire cause of an accident - if biker had ridden at speed limit for entire journey he may have been a mile back up the road when that car turned infront so argument is moot but even from when a driver sees a bike up the road the difference between 60mph and 100mph could easily be difference between there being time to make the turn and there not being time.

Heard some folk talking about this at work today, all along the lines of "Bloody biker got what he deserved for speeding" so I'm not sure it's having the desired effect.
