Only if they put a real-world gas tank on it! I have about 2.1 usable gallons before the low fuel light comes on.

Yeah, I used the same one, maybe 115 miles between fill-ups. Then again, I wasn't trying to set any endurance records so I didn't mind it too much.

Where are all the craftsmen gone?

Yeah, that's it's biggest ADV downfall for sure.

With this style of bike, inevitalby the likes of Safari Tanks will come along and solve any concerns around fuel range.

Honda CBR400RR --> Suzuki Raider 150R --> Suzuki DR200SE --> KTM D390 with sauce

Hopefully this comes to the US next year, so I have a chance to wear out the Duke and trade it in.
That picture is 'fan-art' from about a year ago when the 390 Adventure rumours peaked.
KTM then came out and said there wouldn't be a 390 Adventure.

Sucks as I'd be first in line to buy one.

Been covered. And at the same time there are conflicting reports that the CEO has recently publicly stated that they WILL make a 390 ADV, and that the reason he had said No in the past is because people were asking if they would make a 390 Duke ADV and well of course the chassis is different and apparently Austrians have no sense of nuance.

Where are all the craftsmen gone?

I don't think they'll make any kind of 390 Adventure, there's no sense in it, the audience will be severely limited and it'd just be far too lightweight to work as a real Adventure bike.
Think CB500X as the bare minimum requirement, and even that's not really up to the task.

They're developing 600-800 Twins for 2017 so I imagine they'll use a few of those parts to make a cheaper and lighter 600-800 Adventure.

Well I guess since the Dakar rally rules allow for no larger than 450cc engines, maybe that's heavy enough? I see no reason they couldn't do it.

Plenty of guys on advrider.com that want a lightweight adventure bike. Given the choice, no one wants to struggle with an 800cc beast in the rough stuff.
