Upcoming 2018 Duke 790

Was flipping through the news today about all the new announcements at the Tokyo show and saw that MCN got to test ride the Duke 790 prototype this past weekend and wrote a review about the new engine. Looks like it's gonna be really exciting to see the final production bike in Milan! Is anybody gonna make the switch when it hits the dealerships next summer???

I'm really curious about official specs... Hopefully it will have less 750cc, otherwise it likely won't be an option (taxes...)

@omartins if you read the article I'm pretty sure it says explicity it has a 799cc engine ... in fact the exact quote is: "Featuring a new 799cc parallel twin– a first for KTM"

A street triple killer! I hope that it come with a pretty decent and adjustable fork and shock. Considering the bike segment it is mandatory and I hope that it can be sold in Brazil.

The prototype was so hot.
Like the 1290, they have really dumbed it down for Euro IV and cost.

The smoking hot Prototype in the vids looks to have top of the range forks/brakes for eg.

I really like The Street Triple RS, and love the Duke 790 prototype. (Google the KTM vid)
The problem is, they end up weighing about the same as 1000cc sports bikes. (or an 1100 Tuono Factory)

It will take something special to get me off my Husky 701SM (145kg at the brochure, before I started ripping weight off it)

Allegedly all those top of the line bells and whistles will be available in an upgraded 'R' version, similarly to what they've done with the 690 and 690R respectively in this current model generation @skypig. So I've read anyways, I'll look for the source on that and be sure to link it when I find it.
@omartins, fair enough, I can see why you might have had doubts about it, however, I don't particularly trust that source that you've linked, as they themselves can't seem to make their mind up on the engine size for the 790; initially they say that it'll be an 800cc engine and then in the Engine specs section they say it's a 750cc, but with an asterisk (usually denoting that there's a not regarding the point in question) ... so I'm more inclined to believe the source in the OP.

The dealer told me the “R” version will be 115hp.
A fender eliminator, and pipe - tempting.
