Lowering kit

I just took delivery of a KTM lowering kit for my 390 Duke.
The dealer said that fitting was fairly easy, but the instructions show special tools and say things like “clamp the inner tube with an axle clamp”
These look like basic non-cartridge forks.
The instructions say to remove them from the bike.
Can l not just unscrew the top caps with them on the bike and remove/replace the springs that way?

Personally I would have a go at the fork springs in place remember to get your front wheel in the air so there's no extra compression on the spring ( you are only fitting shorter springs ? ) and loosen the cap slowly and carefully . If there's a lot of compression still on the spring components may decide to make a break for liberty have a few slips fielders handy . Rear shock should present more problems I've heard of people using zip ties and or ratchet straps to compress these springs good luck and lots of caution with that .
