I'm mechanically inclined but not up to doing the valve check myself. That's the costly portion of the first service.

That's the only thing the dealer did for me. I do the oil changes and other checks myself.

Without wanting to start another “valve check” discussion, neither of my local dealers wanted to do it at the 600 mile service.
I was still charged UK£200 (around $300) though.
I will check the valves myself over winter when the bike is laid up. It’s about 3 hours labour hence the price quoted to you.

Your warranty may also be invalid if you don’t get the 600 mile stamp in the service book.

Mine won’t see a dealer once the warranty has expired.

Also my nearest dealer is over 100km round trip.

my dealer is not doing a valve check @ 600 miles either. They said the protocol has changed. Also OP - what you gonna do about getting your red line changed?

Mine was still unadjustable at 6500rpm after the service (done at 560 miles) but it went away by itself at 621 miles

However the option to change it appeared after the service, it was just that it didn’t actually work until l had done just over 600 miles.

It would be interesting to see what happens if you carry out the first service yourself.

I went way over the 600 miles before I was able to get the bike in for service. it is in the shop now. The redline was a changeable option in the menu BUT changing it actually had no effect. the bike still redlined @ 6k.

IMHO the first service is important.
