Fetching a Duke 390 tomorrow

Hi - I'm from the Western Cape, South Africa.

A few hours ago I bought a (used) 2018 KTM Duke 390 with 4600km on the clock... I would have liked an "orange" one but mine is the limited 2018 white... maybe not too bad!

I'm an old bikes and have many years of active riding behind my back - I test rode the Super Duke 1290 and made this the bench mark of bikes... but found this out of my budget! So here comes the 390!

I did some reading and things like "heating issue - ECU, TFT..." etc. came up - but many people like to over exaggerate...

I'll fetch the bike tomorrow and bring it home - a 120 km trip, going over the Du Toitskloof mountain pass.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised!

Ps. Any issues I have to be aware of??

regular checks such as oil level, coolant level, has the spark plug ever been renewed, chain tension and tire pressure.
I'd probably do an oil change + filter before setting off.
Good luck and happy rides.

As long as you are happy with what you ride.

Thanks! The bike is virtually new (6 mths old). Oil, water and tires were on spec when I left. The chain needs some adjustment. I had a great trip back - it was very enjoyable! The 390 has impressed me! Not so light on fuel as I assumed. I rode between 100 and 120 km/h (some head wind) and got 21.2 km/l.

Regards.

Congrats on the new bike!

That appears to be about 50MPG for us Imperial folks. I have been noticing 67.5MPG on the computer while I am breaking in my 2019, which is very surprising since I am doing a fair bit of in-town riding and not going easy on it.

HELP....

I can only reply to this post... I cannot create a signature, a profile, an avatar... I'm basically locked out! The moment I try to set up my account or post something, I get a reply that I do not have privileges... Is this right? Can someone notify an admin on my behalf?? Thanks and regards.

If you take a moment to read the posts in the new members section you will see this is normal. Always good to do some background reading before posting to avoid the same questions.

Post into this section and the rest of the site will unlock.

But have you been reading the other posts in this section? This is a very commonly asked question and equally as commonly answered.
