Hi from Wombourne, UK and advice please

Hi to the group, I am looking at purchasing a 2017/18 model but need to know if the bar width will allow the bike through the house side passage which is 820mm. What is the actual measurement end to end of the bars (if the mirrors overhang I can fold these). If over 800mm, can I change the bars to 750-800mm without a problem?

Thank you

Welcome from the US!

I'm too lazy to go measure them, sorry, but you should be able to get it in. Even if they're too wide, you can turn the handlebars and put one side in, then the next.

The bars are 838 mm end to end

But you should be able to clear one side then turn the wheel to clear the other

Hi Mogga,

Welcome to the forum.
It is not too difficult to change the handlebars.
If only a door to clear the above-mentioned option is a good one.
If, however, you need to clear a corridor that size you will need to change the handlebars for a narrower one.

As long as you are happy with what you ride.

Thanks both for the info. It's an entry between houses so 8m of 820mm gap meaning bar change required. It can go in my front garage while I get round to doing it. Could you point me to the right bars in UK please. Many thanks 🙂

It might be possible just to saw a piece off of each end. Quicker and cheaper than replacing.

The bar ends are about 35mm long each, so you could just swap them out.

The mirrors stick out further than the handlebars tho.

If you’re lucky enough to have a garage why would you wanna mess around with an 8m corridor every time you wanna ride
