Bike revs itself while warming up?

Hi guys,

Just bought my 2017 KTM Duke 390 on Friday and have been riding it all weekend and loving it!

One thing I noticed when I started it up this morning to warm it up...it was about 45 degrees out and while it was warming up, I noticed the bike sort of revved itself for a few seconds. It wasn't just the idling increasing to account for the cold weather...I mean, it was increasing idle, but more like as a rev...it would do it for a few seconds, then back off, then repeated this about 3 times or so, before settling into a steady rev for the rest of the warm-up.

Does that seem normal? The bike only has 130 miles on it as of this morning, closer to 200 now. Is the ECU in a learning process?

Here is a link to the video of it. I only caught it one time on video, so at the very beginning...

It ran fine for me the rest of the day. Just checking if this is normal, thanks...

Thanks,

moto joe

Now my opinion isn't gospel but I say its normal during cold starts for engines to idle up then settle back down.
I think so too
by the way, which version of the software did end up with when you left the dealer ?

Mines the same.
Warming up!

Hi Joe,
What do you mean by "warming up"?
My practice is to start a cold engine, have it run for about a minute/and a half for the oil pump to get the oil to all places needed and then set off.
Of course, keeping rev's down until the engine is at operating temperature.

Hey tbj
I am 5V41
Fixed all the bugs
Is there a way through the TFT that we can see what the current program version is? Or can only the dealership confirm this?

Thanks,

On sub 50 degree days, I generally let my motorcycles warm up for 3-5 minutes, depending on how cold it is, before taking off. If it's generally a warm day, I would start after a minute. This is in the morning or the first run of the bike that day.

Yup:

Set, Service. Will show u the version at the bottom of the screen.

Version 39. I was starting to feel like they weren't up to date on everything. I didn't realize how easy it was to check the version at the time.
Try to find a dealer who has access to v41 and get the to uploaded to your bike, this should be a free service (I got mine fixed for free here)
I figured when I take it in for the 600 mile service at my local dealership, I'll make sure they do it.
Let 1-2 heat bars come back to normal
