Hello,

This is coober.eu ecu manufacturer from Austria.
We are KTM enthusiast and we produce plug in ecu's for KTM

Welcome coobecu! Please tell us more about your product offering as it relates to the 390. A bit more background on your company would be welcome too.

Hi

COOBER is an Austrian based Company that simply develop a ECU (piggy-back) for all kinf of engines (otto engines)
Company is owned by former Yamaha engineer and employee few former KTM r&d guys, so histroicly controlled it was normal that first ecu's become KTM related and here a focus on 125 and 390 due their huge success


The ECU's we do are pre-configured with a setup that we think is still the best output on the engine without voiding the material limit! this come up from endless dyno runs, road miles and a short look to OEM r&d files :)

Those are substantial increases!

Does your ECU tune the closed loop too? The 390 runs very lean there as you know.

Was this on an otherwise stock bike?

How does your ECU handle aftermarket parts?

Hi
This was on stock bike without temperature rise on the engine! The ecu brake the original signal in 100rpm steps, recalculate it and use it. The ignition control is 5 times more accurate then on the OEM ecu.
390 is insane lean in some ranges but this is in fact of some strange functions inside the OEM ecu!
But the best optimization we get on the ignition setup, this is where our box do its thing perfect

Aftermarket parts are a huge topic. For now we support stock bike as it is! in the next weeks we are going to have a solution for KTM permitted parts that you can find in their Performance catalog.

There is also a workaround that we have made, some of our new dealers made some very good tune setups on the 390 and we are working on it to create a setup for their specific "Tune package" this is only a dealer service that we offer.

the 390 is a very good engine but the edge between useless mods and really good setup is very thin.

Hi Folks

It took a while to come back, we got an insane busy year.
Finally we found back to the 390 Duke roots and some nice things happen
We have spend massive time on the dyno and on the road, also with a bit support from the factory (i guess this is not for public)

So the new 390 Duke setup in the ECU is now even more accurate. There are now few new features to extend the engine life time and to reduce chamber wear on WOT.

There are also some pictures of the dyno in this posting, this dyno we use for research and dev. and some pics of the monthly production of the 390 Harness and ecu.
The Harness is now Aviation Standard, to prevent any noise in the signaling. I guess this is unique in the Bike industry.

Also kind of interested although it will have to wait until I at least get the 1st service in. Will this work with the 2017+ year models?

Yes, it works on 2017-18


I am in the market for a piggy-back ECU.
Will there be a forum discount?

What about Akrapovič slip on (stock from PowerParts catalog, db killer always inside) for 2017-2018 Duke 390 ? Will your piggy-back ECU handle this setup ?

es, it is a regular setup. works fine

BTW, it appears that KTM will honour warranty claims with this ECU fitted.

It depends on dealer, not on KTM. As i know the only support they have is powerparts.

That doesnt make sense? Either they are a bit conservative to allow the engine not to det on 95ron, or they are taking full advantage of 98ron ? Or maybe this engine is not so sensitive to fuel ron? I am assuming this engine doesnt have a knock sensor?
Why does it not make sense?

Because its an "either/or" question. The answer cant be yes to both unless you care to elaborate 😉
