I was thinking of getting handguards for my 2019 D390 mainly to protect the levers in the event of a tip over, especially since my wife has expressed more interest in riding again ;)

I saw KTM has these 'lever protectors' in their catalog, they look to be about half the price of the aluminum handguards. P/N for them is 93802984044

Here are the aluminum handguards for comparison P/N 9010297924430

Any feedback from owners of either of these? Pros / Cons of either?

I ruled out the plastic-only handguards as they seem kind of pointless to me.

My understanding is that they are designed for racing to prevent accidental lever pulling when touching another rider in the pack. I don’t think they are intended to protect the lever in a tip over and the crashed bikes I’ve seen with them don’t show any evidence of ability to protect.
