Where is the 390's horn mounted? I have searched everywhere that is visible without disassembling the bike, and no sign of the stock horn. I think it must be hidden somewhere under the tank shroud or in the headlight module. Hopefully someone here can enlighten me.
The reason I ask is that I want to replace the - to my mind and ear - quite wimpy OEM horn with a Hella Supertone I have on hand. I always mount serious horns (eg. Fiamm Freeway Blasters or Hella Supertones) on my bikes. My experience is that one of the main hazards of riding among cagers is that for whatever reason drivers are or become unaware of a bike's presence. Not knowing you are there, they can do foolish things which endanger a bike rider. If they don't see you, one of the only alternatives for getting a driver's attention is a piercing horn blast which will penetrate through traffic noise and closed windows. For this you need a big-time horn, not the feeble little squeakers manufacturers typically fit. If I can find my 390's squeaker, I will replace it forthwith with something more effective.
