Wow that's a lot of math that I don't understand. Can someone give a bit more of an explanation of what I am looking at here?

Why does KTM say its 390cc if it is not?

My point is that it would not have been that hard surely to add 2mm to the bore...
or even just 1mm to the stroke and 1mm to the bore (= 388cc).

Have you seen the horrible dent in the exhaust between the frame and the engine? What about the roasting leg issue? It all says Austrian engineers took it already to the limit. I'm sure they'd made it a 390 cc if it was possible.

You have to remember the platform and its reason for existance, because its a world wide bike they had to work in the Learners class limits. There are some E.U countries that have had to actually detune the bike so its legal. An example is that it doesnt qualify to be used as a test bike in the U.K due to ratio figures yet I think can be ridden once passed.
