Hi Every one
Just bought a Duke 390 2017 few months back , everything was fine , but now gear shifting has become an issue ,
Every time I change the gear there is a " Thug "noise , as if I have changed the gear without clutch operation .
Is it normal or is there some issue ?

I notice this only happens when shifting out of neutral. eg. shifting into first from neutral I hear and feel a thug from the trasnmission. Do you hear it through every gear or just as I mentioned?

go to the dealer. Its a brand new bike. It should work perfctly. don't waist time on specuations. For now just check you have the righ amount of engine oil.

Just for info, when there is a problem with "hard" gearing, first check for loose clutch cable (like vinay said), if not check the clutch discs for normal operation by stripping the clutch.

If clutch and cable are ok, might be the asteroid sprocket under the shift lever (specially if you have problems gear up from 1st to 2nd gear.

final of all checks the gears inside the bottom case.

The "thump" sound and a slight jerk is pretty normal when shifting into the first gear out of neutral, from what I've read.

Hi
The Noise is there on shifting to first from neutral , but at times is also present in up shifting to other gears especially 2 & 3rd gear .

Hi Vinay, Did you get that resolved? Even i have the same problem, I have to always try to rev match. Because of rev match or not sometimes i get smooth gear shifts else its with noise. In Traffic its mostly with sound. It's not possible to rev match in traffic
First Gear : Everytime
Second Gear: 90% of the time
Third Gear: 40-50% of the time
Fourth Gear: Rarely

Please let me know if you have found a solution. M not sure if i am damaging my bike. Even my friends face that issue. Not just me, if at all am considering to shift wrongly, there are others who ride regularly other bikes and when they ride mine, it's always with THUG sound.

Actually the percentage goes high for others.

How many miles are you at?
Might as well ask a dealer since it is still under warranty period and nobody here has bothered to ever report back

Usually it's a clutch cable tensioner adjustment, or not well lubricated drive chain. If not and the bike has more than 30k miles, clutch discs might be the suspect. If not then say hello to Ktm dealer.

I had the same issue, have you checked the gear shifter linkage, and if the part connecting to the shift rod is tightened properly? That was the culprit in my case.
