I found this video of the KTM Duke 390 getting up to top speed. The top speed hit by this rider on the bike was 160 km/h. He says that the bike's chain was loose and he therefore could not push the bike any further. The top speed could also be higher based on the rider's weight. Check out the vid!

so just maybe it can go up another 20 KM/h depending on the factors mentioned above, i bet drafting would help to get it even higher, wind resistance can really be a killer.

with appropriate mods you could definitely get the Duke 390 closer to 170-180 kmh. Stiffen up the suspension, maybe a sproket change, loosen up the exhaust flow...

0-60mph in 2.7 seconds? really?

Are you sure its not 0-60kmh in 2.7 and 0-100k in 5.2?
Yeah sorry should have put the k's in, im in Australia.

Top speed is 170ish, the 690 tops out at 190 area so I'd be surprised if the 390 went past the 175 mark.
All in k's by the way ;)

@Dan1

I'd say the 0-60 will be the most important. I won't bve sitting up top for too long. The windy roads is where the 390 would perform like a dream. :)

gooday guys... im new in the forum

i did 172km/j today...
got my bike on the 19th Nov and im doing just pass 450km on the odometer.

of cos i cannot proved it due i have no camera or video at that time
but im going for my 1st service on the 26th about 500km (manual says 1000km)
but heck i want to service it earlier.
as i felt the engine is very very rough and the timing is out
when coming to a stop from 120km/j while engaging the clutch ..
the engine went dead when i wanted to return to 2nd gear ...
it happend so often then i need to throttle it to keep the rpm idling ...
if the engine went dead ... i need to wait several second to re-start
and this will take probably 10 to 15 times ...
thats why i say .. my setting is out big time....

2.7 seconds

0-100 5.2 seconds

Quoted max speed of 170.

Thank You.

on talking about the rough handling issue are mainly on the fuel management
I think because when I start and stop my bike, it will need a hard start
about 8 to 12 pressing the ignition and need to paused several second
before the next cranking and I can hear as if there is no spark of electric
as only the piston is moving but there is no means of explosion inside the
chamber ...

the 2nd issue is coming to a stop, if I engage the clutch and down my gear from either 6-5-4-3- the engine stop ...... I already check and adjusted the
idling setting but after warm up ... the idling because low again and when
after 25mins or 30mins of riding ... when coming to a stop ... the idling stop
and the engine is hard to crank up again ... I would need to push the bike
to the side and try cranking it for several minutes ...

I read some forum. Duke 200 has this problem ... I wonder anyone here
has the same problem ? Even day 1 when I took the bike, the bike is hard
to start ...

Congratulations on the purchase and welcome to the forum.

Keep on posted on the rough idling issue.

I sure hopes after my 1st service and some tuning... I'll better be a better ride. The specialist says proberly he will do a reset to the ecu. Sending to the authorised certified mechanic later today as I jad made an appointment last Sunday. Will update onced I test the bike on a my usual countryside highway of a stretch of 35km road. Then we can have a better A B comparison. Same track same weather with a new oil change n a refresh ecu. Finger crossed.

welcome to the forum! I believe you on the 173kmh

top speed depends on alot of things. So it will vary. But I'd say 160 is possible for most riders and of course you proved it can go even faster than that.

Sounds like a good attack plan to deal with it. Hopefully that takes care of it and it's not anything complex that will have you waiting a while for it to be sorted out.
