Just joined and posted an introduction and asked there if anyone knew the correct thread size for fitting paddock stand bobbins to the swingarm. Wondered if anyone on this technical forum knew the answer.

Got the bike today and had a good look. There are two tapped holes in the swingarm which could take a bobbin. The upper one is an M8 x 1.25 and the lower one is an M10 x 1.25. I reckon you can use either one. Need to be careful with the M10 hole though as the normal thread pitch for an M10 is 1.5mm, but this is a fine thread, only 1.25mm so not all M10 bobbins on sale will fit.

Youngy I stand corrected. They are the M10 that I used on the lower hole, the top slot was going to cause no protection from my stand bobbins so I used the bottom one. When I did the M10's they were tight and needed to be threaded inwards and outwards (2 turns in 3 turns out etc etc).
Sorry about that error, I should have walked out and looked at it. It was 5 months ago I did it.......thats gone quick!

Hi Dan1. Do you think you maybe used the 1.5mm thread pitch M10 bolts, and that was why they were tight.

Thread size is M10 x 1,25mm

KTM has nice bobbins but with all the wrong bolts with it:

M10 x 40 x 1,5 = included with KTM PowerParts 61029055244 but wrong for 125/200/390
M10 x 40 x 1,25 = OK

M10 X 1.25 X 40 SOCKET COUNTERSUNK SCREW A2

M10 x 1.25 x 40 Socket Countersunk Screw A2

It is this set 61029055244:

KTM Bobbins for rear wheel stand - Tools & Transportation - KTM PowerParts
Just FYI if you have a 2020 390 Duke, I bought bobbins based on this (M10x1.25) and the swingarm holes for the bobbins were a M10 x 1.50 thread. Had to order some new bolts with a coarser thread.

That's funny, I mounted 61029055244 in the 'bottom' holes and they fit perfectly. By hand no less. On a 2019.

I just rechecked 'both holes' with my thread checkers... and the bottoms on mine are very definitely 10x1.50, tops are 8x1.25.

Am I being moody? No. Because...

Ohhhhhh... I see now.
Youngy was in a conversation, about a Gen1, from April 2014...
And Mav617 has a Gen2.5, of the 2020 variant.

Damnununun, I almost thought maybe somebody was playing Wheel of Thread-chase Roulette Fortune! at the Bajaj factory.

My bad. But at least I'm not confused anymore.

If you have access to a 3d printer you can print this. I printed with PLA and it has worked with no problem. I put a 1/4" bolt through it for structure. I can post a ready to print file if there is interest. M10x1.25 Spool
