About time we started a thread to show our pictures from track days. I'll start.

Little disappointed that I owned my old Duc 900SS as long as I did and never did a track day with it, so I am looking forward to getting out on the Duke sometime this year. Shame they don't let regular riders run at COTA.

Geo, I just came back from a 2 hr. ride on my 390 to find your track pictures. You look like a pro! If there were a track near my home I would love to wear down the "chicken strips" on my Diablos, like you! Go for it , man!

I can't help noting with envy how trim and racy your bike looks with the tail tidy..... If the aftermarket doesn't emerge soon with a part to accommodate the US-spec tail light (Chinese accessory makers, where are you?) I may be forced to concoct a home-made solution to rid my bike of that enormous piece of ugly hanging off its rear.

Next track day planned for the 30th of May on the South Circuit at Sydney Motorsport park.

For those of you who do not know, the south circuit is a smaller section of the bigger track and MOST suited to the little Duke. Max speeds achieved are in the upper 140's only.

They just started allowing on board filming the other day so I have been trying out different mounting positions to reduce the vibration to get some good shots.
Not been successful so far but things might 'smooth out' at higher speeds than what I am testing at now.

There are some excellent iphone apps out there (TrackAddict and Harry's GPS suite) that will record video and overlay your gps position, acceleration and speed onto your video easily. Very easy on a smooth in line 4 cylinder bike but the little Duke is a bit viby at best at low speeds/revs.

might post some video afterwards if it's worth it.

Eastern Creek South Circuit Toprider track day 31 May 2015

So after watching the weather forecast daily the week before, the weather gods played along. Cold day (8 - 18) meant the track temp was quite cold but the Metzeler m7's gave surprisingly good feedback during all the sessions.

It was the first time that I used my new Hitch carrier to transport the bike to the track. Very impressed with how easy it was to load / unload this by myself. In the attached picture of the carrier you can see another guy that arrived also with a Duke 390. His day ended in session three when he lost the front end and the bike did a few cart wheels. Expensive day for him.

Managed to improve my PB three times during the day, twice when tailing a S1000r around the short, technical track. Focus of the whole day was on more aggressive trial braking and to keep things smooth, especially on body transitions side to side. Managed to top the time sheets in my group a few times with different people coming over to me on three occasions not believing the fact that a little 390 could possibly be that fast.

All in all a very successful day. My body position is as good as it can get on the Duke, trial braking sorted, some work still left on forward vision. I tend to sometimes still focus on the clipping point when tired and also watch the bike in front when really chasing instead of riding my own race.

GeO,

It looks as if you're about to hit hard parts in several of your shots. The frame protector looks precariously close to the ground. Any issues yet? I'd love to take my bike to the track but the closest 'bike-friendly' track is a good 3.5 hour drive, I don't own a trailer, and the thing isn't even paid off yet! Time to rent something...
