I started wondering - how much would it cost me to have a spare set of rims. Has anyone done some research, if the Duke 125 rims are a direct fit? Or maybe there are some reasonably priced aftermarket parts?
Great Catchpoke but for these amounts I'm able to source them in Asia most likely. Not doing track days, tarmac and semi dirt roads but my major reason is esthetics.
You should try to contact China for a new set of wheels. A lot of bike parts are produced there and assembled elsewhere so they are actually OEM.
Maybe its easier for me since I speak Mandarin and do international business and trading (import/export) full time. But you should try searching for and emailing or messaging the distributors or even the factories that manufacture for KTM, Benelli, etc.
I bought a set of husqvarna 401 svartpilen rims used complete with pirelli scorpion rally str tires for $600 deliveredand it was a bolt exact fit. Love them
125 rims fit and you can get a used set "cheap" on ebay,
125 (2017 > ) wheels are black so you get a different look, have a search in here for Gordeh's bike pics, he's done some great mods including black rims
Yeah as said above, 125 rims are a match for the 390. Only difference is the colour and the disc size. Disc bolt pattern is all identical so you can swap the disc over.
It was easier and cheaper for me to get a set of the black 125 ones instead of powder coating mine.
Anyone get a set built/bought yet? Would love to see what has worked. I got as far as looking into the husqvarna spoked before seeing this thread. Want a spoked set for the dual sport tires I'm planning in the future.
Can't say if they make suitable hubs for KTM (I would be very surprised if they don't ) Talon do very high quality hubs for most bikes . I had a set of wheels built for my Triumph Thruxton 900 , searched ebay for a company making supermoto wheels contacted them asked for what I wanted and a couple of weeks later my new wheels arrived . Only hold up would have been if I had requested hubs anodised a special colour to match my bike ( orange ? ) .
Awesome...I will check them out...admittedly these are a long way out, getting new riding gear and starting with the necessity mods first. But....I like having a solid plan....
Did anyone ever find a solution to this? I really want some spoked rims as I off road the bike, but after hours of searching I'm still reaching dead ends.
