If you rub with a cloth the rims of your Duke 390 2017, you may see the paint to wear off and stay in the cloth. Just like in

I have seen people saying that when they made a complaint to KTM about this issue, KTM dealers responded that this is normal.

Do you experience this issue?

The frame (and the wheels) are all powder coated, I'm not sure if it's normal to apply clear coat on top of powder coating?
my wheels are not as bad as this, but when I rubbed them down with alcohol cleaner prior to applying the reflective strips there was some paint transfer to the cloth.

When I painted my wheels half white I did a lot of surface prep and I did get some transfer but I was using paint thinners so I kind of expected it.

Yea mine does this. It’s really simple: No clear-coat / lacquer.

We manufacture metalwork items at work. And spend approx £150k a year with a local PowderCoaters. None have the KTM’s issues. The reason is the fact all of our work gets lacquered too.To stop exactly this.

Just another way KTM cheaped out on these bikes, saving a few bucks enabling a reduced sticker price. You can’t have top quality and low prices in one package !! 😉

Funny...

if I use lacquer thinner, i get orange; if i use Kingsford Charcoal lighter fluid, i get clean. 😁

Another thing you'll probably notice, after about 22,000 miles, is the leading exposed face of the front wheel spokes will be peppered with [no more orange paint] speckles.
