Share what you did today with the Duke 390 / RC 390 community!

Example: Just received my new sprockets and DID chain from the postman, going to put in some wrench time today!

Example: Gave her a nice bath today and a fresh coat of wax. :D

Example: Took the 390 in to service... Hopefully, my bill won't crater my pocket.

Anything goes....

I didn't use any shim as I didn't have any on hand but "play" was just about the same as the OEM ones. I will go looking for some over the weekend.

As for the roadlok, yes it is more for deterring the joyrider and I do realize of course, there are more "organized" thieves out there which we cannot do anything about other than locking it down to something immovable.
My friend has had experience with his bike being stolen (Honda CBR100RR 2006). The thief knew which cables to cut and start the engine. The handlebar lock was also easily broken. A good stiff kick to the handlebars broke the aluminum piece (which was part of the frame) locking the handlebars in place.
Having the roadlok at least means one less bulky thing for me to carry. I just have to carry the pin.

I used an Exacto knife with a curved blade and a piece of cardboard with a piece of a plastic poster frame to create a straightedge that followed the shape of the bodywork. I took like seven light passes with the blade on the right side, but the vinyl is very thin and I ended up grooving the plastic. Its right at the end of the remaining portion of the decal so you have to look for it to find it, but I only took two or three passes on the left side and didn't do as much damage. After the decals were peeled off, a little Goof Off (I prefer it over Goo Gone) to remove the old glue and she shines like a black diamond. I am not sure if I'll keep the tail decals, but for now they don't bother me.

Please tell us a bit about the valve check goes...pics would be really nice, and if you figure out how to do this without removing the engine that would be even better!

you remove the gas tank and access from the top. I ordered the hotcams shim kit, my local dealer has no shims in stock so they cant do the service plus they want 420 bucks. so f...that, ill do it myself. shim kit is 90 bucks and it will take afew hours. once the shims arrive I will post up something for you.

did the valves today. no adjustment needed, was fully in spec. process to get to thvalve cover is, remove the rear seat. then remove the front seat, then remove the gas tank cover before removing the tank. then remove the tank, once that's done you have easy access to the valve cover. its a bit fiddle to get the valve cover out between the frame.

Yesterday I visited a KTM dealer "down in the OC" (Orange County) to check out their service department. Looked good, and I liked their answers to my questions.. I made an appointment for the first service (estimated cost with valve check less than a buck per cc) and ordered the ergo seat. I will pay a bit extra for some Motul 7100, which they don't stock. I'll truck it there, they will do it while I wait, and I will take pics if they find anything wrong.

Then early this morning I rode to my favorite bike hangout, on what I call my "standard ride." It includes some tight and twisty roads with rather poor surfaces, even a jump if I'm going fast enough. Which apparently I was. Ran it to the shift light a lot. Came back with two impressions:

1. The suspension is racebike stiff, reminds me of my R6.

2. This could well be the best handling bike I've ever put a leg over. Seriously.

took delivery of my Duke yesterday. Today I installed the engine crash gaurds, removed the passenger pegs and grab bars, took off a few manufacturing stickers, and took off part of the long fender extension (someone really needs to make an eliminator kit). Im heading back to the dealership to return some paperwork, I may purchase a few more things -_-

Ill post pictures a little later
