You are correct I used a generic term when I should have been specific to one Brand, Shell, using Rotella Diesel Oil. I honestly dont know if general Diesel Oils have the same ratings

Have over 45K miles between bikes with no issues.

I live in WI (USA). My riding temps are generally upper 30* > 90*. I have another m/c that calls for 10w40, and I use 10w50 in it. With 1.7L = 57oz, I'll likely do a blend of 32oz 15w50 and the balance 10w50.

The oil debate gets people riled up good every single time! All we need now is the Amsoil guy to chime in and this thread will be complete..... LOL

if ktm engineers say 15w50 it is what it is.why overthingking or discussing further.i dont get it.it is plain and simple.

Oil done today ready for summer to commute to work… motul 15w50 per the manual. Also fitted clear oil filter cover so I can more easily see the colour of the oil, bigger glass window than the level sight glass.
